AD here (does that stand for attention deficit or airworthiness directive?), with another crackpot idea. The Sky Pup has been shown to be safe and durable, it has a load factor of +6, -3 @ 400lb gross, and the wing area is 130ft^2, 30ft span, and it has a very low empty weight. It has a block of foam for the spar's shear web that is about 4 or 5 inches thick at the root. Why couldn't a faster heavier aircraft be designed using this type of construction? Care might need to be taken to protect the foam from getting dinged up, but it looks like an inexpensive way to build because the foam reduces the wood content. I was thinking a single seater with retracts and maybe 90 hp. What do you guys think; Possible?
